Welcome to the Set Free Sisterhood Podcast — where we ditch alcohol, heal deeply, and step into our God-given purpose. Hey Sister — let’s get honest. Are you tired of waking up at 3am with your heart racing, your mind spinning, and that pit in your stomach that whispers “What’s wrong with me?” You hide it well. You show up, you smile, you juggle all the things. But behind the scenes, you’re stuck in this cycle: Drink, regret, repeat. And deep down, you know it’s costing you — your peace, your purpose, your joy, and your connection with God. I’m Michelle Porterfield — a faith-fueled, no-nonsense coach who helps Christian women break free from the grip of alcohol, heal what’s underneath it, and create a life they actually want to wake up to. I’ve walked this road. I know the fear, the shame, and the lies the enemy loves to whisper. And I also know the freedom waiting for you on the other side. This podcast is your safe, faith-filled space to get real, do the work, and become the woman God created you to be — bold, healed, and completely set free. If you’re ready, let’s do this. There’s a question that came up in my women’s collective the other day that stopped everyone in their tracks:
How do I know if what I’m feeling is guilt… or conviction?
Because they can feel similar at first.
But they lead you in completely different directions.
And if you don’t learn how to tell the difference…
you’ll either stay stuck in shame
or miss the very thing that’s trying to lead you into freedom.
Here’s the simplest way I can explain it:
Guilt feels like weight.
Conviction feels like direction.
Guilt is heavy, looping, and personal.
It sounds like:
“What’s wrong with me?”
“I should be better by now.”
“I keep messing this up.”
It sits in your body—tight, uncomfortable, draining.
And it doesn’t actually move you forward.
It just keeps you focused on yourself.
Conviction is different.
It’s clear. Specific. And grounded.
It sounds like:
“This isn’t who you are.”
“There’s a better way.”
“Come back.”
It may feel uncomfortable—but there’s clarity in it.
There’s a next step. There’s movement.
Guilt says: “You are the problem.”
Conviction says: “This isn’t aligned—but you are still loved.”
One keeps you hiding.
The other leads you into healing.
And so many women I work with?
They’ve spent years trying to grow… while carrying guilt the entire time.
No wonder they feel stuck.
You can’t move forward when you’re weighed down by something God never asked you to carry.
So here’s a simple place to start:
Grab a journal and ask yourself:
-
What am I feeling right now?
-
Does it feel like weight… or direction?
-
Is this tearing me down or calling me forward?
-
God, is this from You—or is this something I need to release?
And then be still long enough to hear the answer.
And if you’re reading this thinking…
“I don’t trust what I’m hearing.”
“I keep going in circles.”
“I don’t know how to sort this out on my own anymore.”
That’s exactly where coaching comes in.
This is the work.
Learning how to:
-
discern what’s actually true
-
release what’s keeping you stuck
-
and respond to God in a way that creates real change
Not just awareness… but transformation.
You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.
