Stop Drinking and Create the Life You Love! Hey Sister! Do you find yourself saying, “I need to get control of my drinking?” Do you google “How to know if I’m drinking too much” or “Am I an alcoholic?” Feeling stressed most of the time? Is your health going downhill and it makes you feel like crap? Is your anxiety through the roof, so much that you wake up at 3am with your heart racing and thinking negative thoughts about yourself? You hide it well. Not many people know. You show up for work, you workout (sometimes), you walk around with a smile on your face for the world to see and meanwhile you think... I wish I was a better mom… I want to be a better person. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I just quit? Yet you still crave that next drink, feel like a failure, and sometimes you wonder who you’ve become. You are sick of this cycle with alcohol and you wish you could get your drinking under control. Girl, I see you and I get you! I’m Michelle Porterfield, a Stop Over Drinking and Transormational Results Coach. For so many years I experienced all of this. I was so afraid of what my life would look like alcohol-free. How would I have fun? What would I tell everyone? How would I travel without a drink in my hand? How would I handle stress? I got to a point where I was sick of being stuck. I had tried to stop drinking and I had failed too many times. I made the choice to choose something different – me. It wasn’t easy, it took surrender, daily awareness, new routines, getting honest with myself, and learning to actually feel my emotions instead of stuffing them down… oh…and lots of grace. Friend, it was so worth it. My life was truly transformed on the other side of drinking. And yours can be too. Here‘s the deal: Drinking less is just the first step! I believe that‘s why it can be scary. We know deep down there’s more. Once we see what’s underneath the alcohol, true freedom is found. I am here to help you do just that. So if you’re ready to get out of the daily cycle that leads you to drink, learn why you do the things you do and how to change them, calm your anxiety, cultivate healthy relationships, love and value yourself again, reignite your faith, and create a life of fulfillment. Thursday Aug 15, 2024
In this episode, I open up about the challenges of parenting during the back-to-school season and the importance of prioritizing self-care. I explore the societal and psychological factors that lead women to neglect their own needs, including the pressure to be selfless, the mental load of managing a household, and the fear of confronting deeper issues.
I provide practical strategies for creating space for self-care, such as starting small with 5-10 minute daily practices, learning to say "no" to obligations that drain your energy, and communicating your needs to your support system. I also emphasize the importance of self-compassion and seeking help when needed, whether through relationships, community, or professional coaching. Key Takeaways:
-
Recognize the societal and internal beliefs that lead you to prioritize others' needs over your own
-
Start small with self-care practices like breathing, reading, or taking a short break
-
Learn to say "no" to requests that don't align with your priorities
-
Communicate your needs to your family and ask for help
-
Seek support through relationships, community, or professional coaching
-
Reframe self-care as essential, not selfish
Action Steps:
-
Commit to a small daily self-care practice (5-10 minutes)
-
Identify one obligation you can say "no" to this week
-
Reach out to a friend or family member and ask for support
-
Consider reaching out to Michelle for one-on-one coaching

291 \\ 6 Years Alcohol Free!! My Biggest FEARS Before I FINALLY Gave Up Wine!
Thursday Aug 08, 2024
Thursday Aug 08, 2024
Hey there, my friends! I'm so excited to share this episode with you today. As you know, I'm Michelle Porterfield, and I'm celebrating 6 years of being alcohol-free. Can you believe it? It's been such an incredible journey, with so many ups and downs, but I'm just so grateful to be where I am today.
In this episode, I really wanted to get vulnerable and share some of the fears and struggles I faced before and during my journey to being alcohol free.
I know so many of you can relate to that feeling of being stuck, unsure of how to make a change, and worried about what others might think. Well, I've been there, and I'm here to tell you that it is possible to break free. I open up about my fears around addiction, judgment, and even my identity as a Christian woman. I share how I wrestled with the idea of having to go to meetings or label myself as an "alcoholic" (which, by the way, is not something I'm comfortable with). And I talk about the struggle of learning to feel and express my emotions, rather than just stuffing them down with a glass of wine. But through it all, I found the strength and support I needed to keep moving forward.
And now, 6 years later, I can honestly say that my life is so much richer, more fulfilling, and more aligned with who I truly am. I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire you to take that first step and start your own journey to freedom.
So, if you're ready to break free from the hold that alcohol has on your life, I encourage you to reach out to me. You can book a call with me using the link in the show notes, or you can email me at michelle@setfreesisterhood.com I'm here to walk alongside you, offer support and guidance, and help you create the life you've been dreaming of. I love you, my friends. Let's do this together!

290 \\ How does alcohol affect men vs. women especially in midlife?
Thursday Aug 01, 2024
Thursday Aug 01, 2024
Ladies, I wanted to share an important message with you all. In this episode, I dove into the unique ways alcohol affects women, especially as we go through perimenopause and menopause.
The research is clear - our bodies process alcohol differently than men's, and it can have a more significant impact on our health during this midlife transition. Things like hot flashes, mood swings, bone density loss, and increased risk of heart disease can all be exacerbated by alcohol consumption. I know this isn't easy to hear, but I share this information out of care and concern for your wellbeing.
You don't have to face these challenges alone. I'm here to provide support, accountability, and guidance as you navigate this season. If you're ready to make some positive changes, I encourage you to reach out. Let's work together to find freedom, peace, and vibrant health on the other side of this. You deserve it.

286 // Trusting God's Plan of Forgiveness and Second Chances
Wednesday Jul 03, 2024
Wednesday Jul 03, 2024
Hi friends, I hope you're all enjoying the start of July!
As always, it was such a joy to dive into Scripture and share some of the insights I gained. I find it so fascinating how God can use even the smallest biblical stories to teach us profound truths about His character. Jonah shows His relentless mercy and compassion so clearly. It really struck me how Jonah's disobedience not only affected him, but those around him as well. A timely reminder for us all. I loved exploring how God drew others to Himself even through Jonah's mistakes and suffering. His redeeming power knows no bounds. The metaphor of the plant also taught me so much about developing empathy the way God desires from us. Please let me know if any part of the episode resonated with you or sparked new thoughts. I'd love to chat more!
Also, as always, I'm here for you if you need support in your own journey with the Lord. Whether it's healing from the past, strengthening relationships, or finding your purpose - don't hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you all God's richest blessings as we head into the heart of summer. I hope to connect with you again soon.
Love, Michelle

Friends, today's episode was all about the natural ebb and flow of relationships over time. I shared personal experiences with seasonal friendships - connections that were deeply meaningful for a season of life but have since run their course as our lives evolved. Ending a friendship can stir up a whole host of emotions. But normalizing this experience helps reduce shame or confusion. I hope hearing me validate the grieving process provides comfort if you've recently experienced a friendship fading. We discussed tools like journaling, seeking support, and protecting your wellbeing on social media during this transition. If you're navigating challenging emotions around a changing or ending friendship, I'm here to help. My Stop Over Drinking Roadmap offers faith-based coaching and community to work through life's difficulties with grace. You don't have to walk through seasons alone. Listen to today's episode for perspective on how each relationship contributes to our growth.
