Welcome to the Set Free Sisterhood Podcast — where we ditch alcohol, heal deeply, and step into our God-given purpose. Hey Sister — let’s get honest. Are you tired of waking up at 3am with your heart racing, your mind spinning, and that pit in your stomach that whispers “What’s wrong with me?” You hide it well. You show up, you smile, you juggle all the things. But behind the scenes, you’re stuck in this cycle: Drink, regret, repeat. And deep down, you know it’s costing you — your peace, your purpose, your joy, and your connection with God. I’m Michelle Porterfield — a faith-fueled, no-nonsense coach who helps Christian women break free from the grip of alcohol, heal what’s underneath it, and create a life they actually want to wake up to. I’ve walked this road. I know the fear, the shame, and the lies the enemy loves to whisper. And I also know the freedom waiting for you on the other side. This podcast is your safe, faith-filled space to get real, do the work, and become the woman God created you to be — bold, healed, and completely set free. If you’re ready, let’s do this. 269 \\ How do we overcome fear? Questions from the Stop Over Drinking Students.
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
Hi Sisters,
Opening up about our deepest fears and doubts can be so challenging, yet so important for our personal growth.
As we explored, fear often arises from past experiences that our minds hold onto for protection. But in the process, those fears can hold us back from our true potential and desires. It takes courage to face them, yet I know from my own journey that it's so worth it.
I wanted to remind you of the F.E.A.R. process we discussed - Face, Embrace, Ask, Answer, Release. Taking small steps to face what's coming up for you physically and emotionally, without judgment, can help release the grip of fear over time. And remember - you don't have to do it alone. That's what this community is here for.
If any part of our discussion resonated with you and you'd like someone to walk through the process with, I have some availability for 1:1 coaching sessions. Or feel free to share your thoughts in our Facebook group.
However you choose to move forward, remember that you are so much stronger than any fear. I have faith that as we continue to face them together, our lights will only shine brighter.
Love you,
Michelle

In this episode, I discuss the importance of self-esteem and provide actionable steps you can take to build your self-esteem. I share how developing self-esteem through keeping promises, celebrating small wins, and not comparing oneself to others on social media can positively impact relationships and overall well-being. I also emphasize the role that faith and community can play, and encourage you to seek a deeper relationship with God to fully accept His unconditional love and grace. Through sharing personal stories and struggles, I want to inspire you to take responsibility for your growth journey and trust in yourself and your abilities over time through consistent small actions.

In this episode, Michelle celebrates the progress that several members have made in reducing or stopping their alcohol consumption through the Stop Overdrinking Roadmap program.
She then discusses one member's experience with feeling resistance to change and pressure to drink after initially making good progress. Michelle emphasizes the importance of having alternative coping strategies prepared for when cravings hit.
Several practical techniques are provided for shifting one's state of mind in those challenging moments, such as listening to uplifting music, spending time in nature, dancing, or doing a short exercise routine. The "5 second rule" method of forcing oneself to take action is also introduced.
Michelle encourages relying on one's faith and relationship with God for encouragement, desire to change, and support. Resources like the Stop Overdrinking Roadmap program are mentioned for those seeking more guidance and community.
The discussion provides action steps like coming up with a list of short activities, practicing shifting one's state, and utilizing faith to overcome urges to drink when facing pressures or resistance to change.
